Stephen King (Stephen Edwin King) - born September 21, 1947, Portland, Maine, U.S., is an American novelist and short-story writer whose books were credited with reviving the genre of horror fiction within the late 20th century. A van struck King just after he began a book on the craft of writing. King was still dubious if he'd ever write again after months of arduous recuperation (the doctors were even doubtful he'd survive).
“I was utterly incapable of writing after the accident,” he told an area Bangor, Maine newspaper. It felt as if I'd never done anything like this before... It seemed as if starting once again from the situation. “Thankfully, King returned to the work, which eventually became On Writing, an enthralling memoir about King's personal reading and writing habits, also as guidance for budding authors.
He also goes into greater detail about his long-term battle with drug and alcoholism. On Writing has become a must have for authors and creators all across the planet since its publication in 2000.Stephen King's literary genre is credited together with his success as a bestselling horror/psychological fiction author.
Because many of King's three-dimensional, dynamic characters are relatable, his stories capture and delight both long-time fans and newcomers alike. The protagonist in "Carrie," for instance, may be a high school student who is bullied because she is unusual. Stephen King's first novel, Carrie, was released in 1974 and had a press run of 30,000 copies. To make realism within the work, King used a mix of letters, news clips, magazine articles, and passages from books in an epistolary fashion.
Stephen King is one of the few authors who isn't scared to experiment with new genres. Whether he's writing horror, science fiction, or alternate history (or something else different), he always provides a memorable book that we can't put down.
