Winners of the prestigious National Book Awards 2021

Recognition and appreciation of an artist's work help motivate them. The Man Booker, Pulitzer, Nobel, are all prestigious literary awards. The National Book Awards fall under this category and are awarded annually to U.S. authors whose books were published more or less in the award year. The awards are given to one book apiece in the fiction, non-fiction, poetry, translation, and young people's literature categories. Two-lifetime achievement awards are also given out every year: the 'Medal for Distinguished Contribution' and the 'Literarian Award for Outstanding Service. Hundreds of books are nominated by the publishers every year, and the judging panel narrows it down to a long list of 10 books, followed by the finalist's list of 5 books, one of which would be the winner in that category. These awards are presented in November in a ceremony held in New York, with the finalists being awarded a medal, a citation from the judging panel, and $1,000, while the winners receive $10,000, and a bronze sculpture.
