Reading a copy of this will help you ease all the frustrations and pains you are holding onto for sure. Telling about the life of a family that consists of a father, mother, and child, the instances mentioned are too funny yet thought-provoking. Even though one can make claims like 'money can't buy happiness' at the end of the day, if one doesn't own enough money "pigeons will start attacking the french fries in the head", to put it in the author's own words.
The author redefined the way things are normally presented and understood by the general audience, "Alexa asked, How Can I Return Myself". Reading it almost felt like entering a home with three persons in it and having a deep conversation about their whereabouts while having a coffee with them. It's not that philosophical like most of our books are right now, but instead, there are moments of wisdom shared by the narrator to his/her readers like, "Of course, dad longs for a time when photos were taken for memories and not for social media profiles", and it hurt a little.
The way he constructed sentences is so interesting that one will find it a joyful experience to keep on reading it and never find it as difficult to complete reading it in a single sitting. Sentence constructions like "... that's so ridiculous that mom laughed, I laughed and Alexa laughed" will surely make the readers laugh a little bit more, and no doubt of that.
The chapter titled "Never Haves Lives Less-Lived Been More Chronicled" is more of a sarcastic comment passed about the modern instinct of humans to post every single thing happening in their lives on social media. Just like the Mom in this book, you will be able to see several people who take the reel life as real and reality as secondary only. People especially teenagers desperate attempt to seek acceptance from strangers are increasing day by day and the number of elders who are falling into this trap are also increasing.
The chapter, "They Say Cooking is Easy, but it's Not Easier Than Not Cooking" is so funny that one can keep reading it again and again. For sure, the completion of the book will leave the readers in a state of mixed state where one is forced to think more about the realities portrayed by the author, sugar-coated with absolute humor.
“ Thank God for books and music and things I can think about. ” ― Daniel Keyes
