The Carriage Master

I recently read The Carriage Master, and to be honest, it was a story that kept me hooked from start to finish. It has an engaging plot with interesting characters that make it a great read.

The story starts with a very interesting setting – an old, dusty, and slightly shabby-looking bowling alley where the main character, Alex, works. He comes here not only to earn money but also to escape his everyday life. His real passion is the pinball machine, which gives him some relief from this boring life.

The author has portrayed the environment around Alex so vividly that I could almost feel myself in that smelly and dimly lit gaming room. The details of everything – from the old dirty carpet to the weird people in the bowling league – are given so vividly that I felt like I was watching a movie.

Alex is a character who feels very realistic. At 30, he is still an art school student, looking for stability in his life. His struggles, aspirations, and frustrating but interesting personality add depth to the story. He constantly tries to maintain his high score on the pinball machine, but a mysterious player (TNH) beats him every time.

Travis, the manager of the bowling alley, is Alex's biggest headache. He always makes fun of him and teases him. At first, Travis seems like he might be the villain, but as the story progresses, the real mystery begins to unfold.

The real thrill begins when Alex encounters a strange man sitting in a modified garbage truck. The man tells Alex to "get out of the sun," and his body language itself seems unusual. In that scene, I felt like something big was going to happen, like this person is involved in some mystery.

Jake Hayes has an engaging writing style. He has given very natural and lively descriptions, which make the readers feel like they are inside the story. The dialogues are very natural and real, and the thoughts of the characters are also so deep that one feels connected to them.

This book kept me hooked until the end and left many questions lingering, making me think even more. The author has taken the story forward cleverly, and every detail is important.

If you're looking for a crime and mystery story that keeps you engaged until the very end, The Carriage Master is a great choice!
